AMARC 2002 Ltd was formed over 45 x years ago by a group of model flying enthusiasts in the Hengrove area, and have continued to fly at the old Whitchurch airfield ever since.
In 2002, AMARC acquired a site at Gordano to expand the flying opportunities for people in the North Somerset area.
Over the years, an amazing amount of work has been done to make the Gordano site more open, accessible and enjoyable to fly at.
Special thanks must go to those people who got the project started and the incredible effort to obtain planning permission to fly there. Bearing in mind that the site used to be a landfill for all types of materials, we have now inherited one of the best sites to fly in the South West.
A lot of work has been done recently to make the site safer and provide more facilities for the members and their families.
We have a clubhouse, where tea and coffee making facilities are available, and secure spectator area to view the flying, so please feel free to bring your family ( and well behaved dogs) to see what goes on during good weather days.
AMARC now attracts flyers from all age groups, disciplines, both genders, and skill levels, from the wider Bristol and North Somerset areas, so please feel free to contact one of the Committee, or make an enquiry on-line for more information.
We have our own privately owned 11 x acre site directly between Portishead and Clevedon at Weston in Gordano, and it is surrounded by open fields and the Avon Wildlife Trust area in the distance
We fly (weather permitting) 365 x days per year from 10.00am until dusk.
A copy of the Club Rules are available on this site
There is no restriction on disciplines.
